UNESCO Chair Director Alberto Garcia was a keynote speaker at a Reborne “Workshop on Ethical, Legal, and Regulatory Issues” in Timisoara, Rumania on June 12, 2015. Nearly 100 participants gathered in the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Victor Babes for the event. Garcia drew upon his extensive experience in the legal and ethical realm to contribute the examination of how best to assess the various risks and benefits associated with the exciting technological advances.

The Reborne organization has dedicated the last four years to “Regenerating Bone Defects using New biomedical Engineering approaches.” The organization’s website describes its research as follows: “Tissue engineering combines mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), synthetic scaffolds and molecular signals (growth or differentiating factors) in order to form hybrids constructs.”
